After a week off while Resonance took care of some technical repairs and improvements, we return with our Theme Special show (being the last show of the month). The theme this month? Cover versions. So, get ready as we take in anything from latin versions of the Sex Pistols through to warehouse classics performed by a colliery brass band. The bands covered? Let’s see, we have Alice Cooper, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Black Sabbath and Take That. Yes, Take That… but don’t worry, it isn’t on for long.
Oh, and next week we will have a guest with us in the studio: Tom’s old mate Greg Belson, fresh off the plane from LA armed with “a few dirties” (as Tom put it – which means something else entirely to me) for our ears. Don’t miss!!
Snowboy & The Latin Section – “Anarchy In The UK”
1000 Homo DJs – “Supernaut”
Herbie Mann – “Norwegian Wood”
Acid Brass – “Can U Dig It?”
Born Jamericans – “Back For Good”
Little Kirk – “What’s Love Got to Do”
Melvins – “Venus In Furs”
Long Distance Dan (yes, and Wrongtom!) – “Fat Bottomed Girls”
Thin White Rope – “May This Be Love”

Featured Video for this week is a clip of the Fairey Brass Band live, playing KLF’s mighty “What Time Is Love?” at the Innocent Village Fete 2008 – proof that not only was the project a success, but that the band have made a living out of it ever since crossing over into the mainstream in the process. Good on em says I!
This week its back to a dynamic (ha!) duo, armed with music under our respective arms that takes in anything from fake Finnish punk bands to ropey reggae recorder covers. As if that’s not enough, we drop some fine malt blues from the man Screaming Jay and some of the earliest dancehall tracks that were only available as 78s back in the day. Oh, and Uffie and Molly Hatchet… but we won’t dwell on that.
Go get some!
Herbie Mann “Kabuki Rock”
Hot Toddy “I Feel Love”
Screaming Jay Hawkins “She Put The Whamee On Me”
Sonny Knight “But Officer”
Willie Royal “General Alarm”
Molly Hatchet “One Man’s Pleasure”
(about all you could take of) Uffie “Pop The Glock (Mirwais Pop Remix)”
The Fuckers “Sexy Roy Orbison”
We The People “Break Down”
Count Lasher and his Calypso Quintet “Dalvey Girl”
Soundbed: the entire “Good Is Good” album by Om.
