Show #68 (Oct.’11)
Oct 2011 05

With Tom in The Netherlands, Dan le Sac steps up to join Trick for more of the usual. Taking in bizarre covers of funk classics, deep soul, murder ballads, Dirty South hiphop and more, the show was rolling along beautifully… right up until a catastrophic technical crapout brought the kibosh down on things a little early. All is good now though, so hit “play” and enjoy the usual ranty banter. Go!

This week we veer from the Cumbia sound of Colombia’s caribbean coast to the Ealing-made post-punk DIYness of Celebration via a former Digable Planet and the pairing of drugs hoovers Ministry with straight-edge, Fugazi legend Ian MacKaye. Much talk this time around, taking in the Loudness Wars, the merits of Neil Young, the mis-pressings of Del Shannon and more… Take a listen!

Rolling in for show 2, we battled the usual technical gremlins to deliver a spread of music taking in slow jams, reggae glory, math rockin’ guitar heroics, 808 drum classics and the dumbest 80s party anthem of all time, courtesy of Flipper.
