But enough about that and on to Ari who at one time fronted arguably one of the most important girl groups in rock history. Some might scoff but the girl group more often than not is something of a man-made ideal, and regardless of having plenty of men at the side lines spurring them on, The Slits, on their own terms, carved their name into the flabby arm of an often insecure homme-heavy industry.

I’m guessing if you’re reading this there’s nothing I could tell you about Rammell that you don’t know already and by various social networking sites and blogs are no doubt inundated with links to Beat Bop, Crazy Sneaker or Death Comet Crew so instead i thought i’d share a snippet of a rare cinematic siting of the former Getovett.

For those unaware of his work, Frank started life as Chris Sievey, his music career kicking off with Manc-punks The Freshies who shaved the never regions of the UK charts with the really really fantastically titled “I’m In Love With The Girl On The Manchester Virgin Megastore Checkout Desk” back in 1981.

It was announced at the weekend that the East London institution that is Plastic People is facing possible imminent closure at the hands of Hackney’s police force who wish to revoke PP’s license to prevent “public nuisance” and “crime and disorder”.

It would seem that by design or by oversight the Mr Trick & Wrongtom Show has been summarily dropped from the Resonance FM schedule. Sadly, the first we learned of this was when someone forwarded us a newsletter they’d received from the show replacing us; nobody from the station has contacted us and hence we’re still none the wiser as to whether this is some kind of mistake on the station’s part, or a case of “we thought we’d rest you – did nobody tell you??”.

Either way, this means that the show we’d prepared for tonight will not now happen.

Personally, I’m gutted; having missed the final two shows of the year in December through illness, and then having to cancel last week’s show because we were snowed in, I was beyond excited to be getting back on air tonight. We love doing this show and particularly hearing from all our listeners – even when they’re telling us to shut up and move on, or stop playing Meshuggah. Again. Having gained a somewhat sturdy following that reached as far as Portland Oregon (yes Jen – that means you!), we felt we were onto something.

For now though, we would only ask one thing of you: if you would like to see us back on-air, please do drop Ed Baxter, the station manager for Resonance FM, a polite email enquiring why the show is no longer on-air. Please don’t get abusive; that won’t help us – quite the opposite. We just feel this should be positive: if you want the show back, let ‘em know and maybe they’ll reconsider the situation.
