The Mighty Greg BelsonThis week we welcome our friend from overseas and all round great guy Greg Belson. Musical Archaeologist, disc jockey, record producer and sporter of some serious facial hair, Mr Belson has been a linchpin of the UK funk scene for a good couple of decades, digging his way through garage sales and car boots from New Malden to New Mexico mining and trading some of the heaviest of drum breaks and muckiest of funk this side of Bernard Purdie’s laundry basket.

On wax Greg’s been responsible for a slurry of material from acts such as The Hightower Set, Appleseed, Blackwater Industries and Native Soul. In the dance he’s previously supplied a south west London home to the biggest names on the deep funk scene with his Hogwash night as well as championing the Deep Funk brand when he helped kick it off in the mid 90’s with Keb Darge, prior to that he held a residency with the now infamous Dj Vadim before he started incorporating door bells into his dj sets and playing drum n bass on 33. Now Greg can be found tearing up the US west coast with a box of impossible to find soul 45s, so consider it a treat that we managed lure him in to the resonance studios.

Tune in as ever at 10pm on July 1st, trust – this’ll be a biggie.
