Herbie Mann coverAfter a week off while Resonance took care of some technical repairs and improvements, we return with our Theme Special show (being the last show of the month). The theme this month? Cover versions. So, get ready as we take in anything from latin versions of the Sex Pistols through to warehouse classics performed by a colliery brass band. The bands covered? Let’s see, we have Alice Cooper, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Black Sabbath and Take That. Yes, Take That… but don’t worry, it isn’t on for long.

Oh, and next week we will have a guest with us in the studio: Tom’s old mate Greg Belson, fresh off the plane from LA armed with “a few dirties” (as Tom put it -- which means something else entirely to me) for our ears. Don’t miss!!

Tracklisting:
Snowboy & The Latin Section -- “Anarchy In The UK”
1000 Homo DJs -- “Supernaut”
Herbie Mann -- “Norwegian Wood”
Acid Brass -- “Can U Dig It?”
Born Jamericans -- “Back For Good”
Little Kirk -- “What’s Love Got to Do”
Melvins -- “Venus In Furs”
Long Distance Dan (yes, and Wrongtom!) -- “Fat Bottomed Girls”
Thin White Rope -- “May This Be Love”
Jose Feliciano -- “California Dreamin”
Melvins -- “Ballad of Dwight Frye”

Soundbed: Cerritos Jazz-Rock Ensemble -- “Come Together”

Featured Video for this week is a clip of the Fairey Brass Band live, playing KLF’s mighty “What Time Is Love?” at the Innocent Village Fete 2008 -- proof that not only was the project a success, but that the band have made a living out of it ever since crossing over into the mainstream in the process. Good on em says I!

As ever chaps, top show – and as ever, there’s always some form of inspiration involved

The STALAG joint was lovely, the Take That was disturbing and the Bracid House was just what I needed

I’d never heard of the Brass Band joints, now im deep in the alblum and bangin out Fast Eddie 12″s much to the perturbance of my neighbours

Found a rip of the alblum:

You guys sre hilarious with the fake clueless pseudo muso schtick. Each an expert in their own field, combining a wealth of acid jazz knowledge and smegma related niche groups, LOL! Spot on because most of those talentless failed producers who try and gain some imagined kudos off real producers and musicians by putting out a “radio show” which is really a below par mp3 mega mix with crap skits really do regurgitate speculative crap from magazines, wiki pages and fanwank forum pages. Keep up the good work! Radcliffe and Maconie won’t be losing sleep.
