Joan BaezThis, if we say so ourselves, is a peach of a show. We have chilled jazz fusion on the hippie tip courtesy of Compost, brand new brilliance from the ever-reliable Super Furry Animals, military disco from Meco, the vaudeville gypsy rock n’ roll insanity of Martin Martini and the Bone Palace Orchestra, baile funk from Feadz and even a track Tom correctly posits as the first ever hip hop track, from the bisexual queen of country (it says here), Ms. Joan Baez. Is Tom mad? Quite the contrary – check the show to hear his argument!

Now for a rare treat; a tracklisting. Yes, we’ve had a fair few complaints that we’re not listing stuff, so here you go…

1. Meco – Other
2. Compost – Bwaata
3. Martin Martini and the Bone Palace Orchestra – Take Your Skin Off And Dance
4. Feadz – Subiu, Desceu
5. Super Furry Animals – The Very Best of Neil Diamond
6. Joan Baez – Time Rag
7. The Marvells – Someday We’ll Be Together
8. Drrty Haze – Superhigh (Play It Loud Original)

Soundbed: Lone – Fly Fire Rainbow

Just got this in from my good friend Dave The Chimp:

hey, did I just hear on your show that COMPOST was Jack Dejohnette’s band?
Coz I made a painting of him once, to piss off the graffiti writers I was hanging out with (I will not do as I’m told!)
    CHIMP

He then expanded on this some more:

I painted this image of Jack Dejohnette, drummer on Miles Davis “Bitches Brew” sessions, at a graffiti “jam” in a burnt out east London bus garage, to piss off all the other graffiti writers, who were expecting cute characters, wild style letterforms, and photo realistic portraits. Painting the same shit as everyone else, time and time again, is boring. Who wants to be part of the gang when the gang are a bunch of cowards, who have to check they’re wearing the right sneakers before they can go out and be “creative”? I don’t want to be a sheep, I want to be a shepard (Jesus was a shepard, and they’re still talking about him 2,000 years after he died!)
