Mr Trick & Wrongtom: Xmas Special 2 (December ‘08)

So, here it is folks: our final show of 2008 and our second installment of festive selections for you to indulge in. On this show we open with the rather offensive Judge Dread (and yes, Trick’s reaction to this might well be the same as yours), then take in BB King, Snoop Dogg, William Burroughs, Sufjan Stevens, the Flaming Lips and – fittingly – Harry Belafonte, pictured below with his harem of laydeeez:

HELLA FLOSSY.

As ever the conversation flows as plentiful as the music, but sadly doesn’t also benefit from editing, A&R, mastering or indeed any quality control whatsoever. So, same as usual then.

Have a great Christmas and New Year all!

Welcome then our first of two Christmas Specials, in which the dynamic (*ahem!*) duo select a diverse bunch of yuletide-related cuts for your delectation. On this first show, tunes aired include some hawaiian guitar festivity, some midget-funk courtesy of The Purple One, two mighty soul legends in the form of Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye, Scandinavian Spector-ness from The Raveonettes and even the frankly rather grim tale of “Millie Pulled A Pistol On Santa” from De La Soul. Matters discussed include Trick’s new Chesterfield armchair/sofa combo, the mighty port sipper glasses, Prince’s festive loving arrangements, the forthcoming Specials reunion and much more. One thing’s for sure: this isn’t the kind of festive drivel you see on MTV where Tony Christie palms you off with more bloody Cliff Richard. O Come All Ye Faithful indeed!

AKA “From Fudge Tunnel To Tru Thoughts…”

Yes yes – we continue our slew of shows with this gem that represents our first of the Christmas month. Is this a Christmas special? No – tune in next week and the week after for our two yuletide offerings. In the meantime, check out the metal funk of Fudge Tunnel, the soul stylings of Kylie Auldist, Maga Bo’s brutal fusion of “world” (hate that term!) sounds with modern beats, Mark Perry’s Good Missionaries project, the pseudo bass mysticism of Maggotron and the inimitable William Burroughs. In addition your presenters discuss Trick’s Buddha Machine, the Black and White Minstrels and whether or not one of the presenters is in the pay of Stone’s Throw. No comments from the peanut gallery please!

Enjoy.
